Scalp Care

We all want to meet the world with a healthy head…

So many people I talk to are fighting their way through the transition between bottled and bar shampoo. Are you one of them?

For some people, the transition is easy, while for others it’s nothing less than arduous. No matter which side of the fence you’re on, or what products you’re currently using, let’s for a moment talk about your largely overlooked scalp.

It’s a busy place up there. The skin on the top of your head, strives to stay clean and fresh with whatever hair products you send its way. It keeps all your hair in order, to stay healthy, moisturized and dandruff-free, but have you ever thought of doing something nice just for your scalp?

How about a head massage?

The ingredients are simple and it only takes a few minutes of well-deserved “me time”:

  • 1 tablespoon of liquid vegetable oil of your choice (rapeseed, sweet almond, jojoba, grapeseed)
  • 2-3 drops of essential oil

Blend these together and massage into your scalp with your fingers. Yes, it might get a little goopy, but remember you’re aiming for the scalp; it’s a bonus if your hair gets a revitalizing treatment.

Essential Oils and your Scalp:

Essential oils can be used to cleanse the scalp, strengthen hair, control irritation and dandruff, stimulate hair follicles, improve circulation and even promote hair growth.

Some essential oils improve the condition of the scalp whiles others improve the condition of the hair. This list is only some of the more common oils you may choose to use:

Chamomile – Adds golden highlights and sheen while conditioning hair. It soothes the inflamed scalp and reduces the dry and itchy affects fo psoriasis.
